What you will be doing

Our volunteer Youth Club Assistants play a vital role in ensuring all our members can access the activities we provide for them..
The role includes:
* Assisting the designated lead with running sessions & activities
* Setting up and packing down at our venues
* Engage with the lonelier children who can't find someone to play with.
* supporting the children in accessing more physical activities
* Initiating conversation with the children and encouraging their participation.
* Some cleaning involved; Setting up and packing down for each session.

We want you to befriend the children and their parents so ideally, we’d like a regular, longer term commitment.

Skills Description

Confident and good communicators Someone who enjoys working with young people Someone who can use their own initiative, have patience and be supportive. Must be willing to muck in and work as a team.

This is a great opportunity to develop skills in working with young people. There is great satisfaction for assisting young people and helping them develop friendships. We are also happy to discuss further skills development.

Time Commitment

Up to 3 hours a month, on the Second Monday of every month. There is an opportunity to assist in other projects depending on your eagerness to work well within our organisation.

How Long Do I Have To Volunteer For?

You need to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity of around an hour a week. The table below shows the commitment required for each level of the DofE.

Bronze

Minimum time: 3 or 6 months

You must do one of your volunteering, Physical or Skills sections for 6 months, the others for 3.

Silver

Minimum time: 6 or 12 months

If you heven't achieved your Bronze Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 12 months.

Gold

Minimum time: 12 or 18 months

If you heven't achieved your Silver Award, you must extend your volunteering or the longer of your Physical or Skills sections to 18 months.
