We are currently looking for new co-opted governors to join our friendly governing body at Alcester Academy. Our governors come from a range of different backgrounds, skills and experience but all share a common interest in wanting the best possible education for the children in our school. Governors help to set and review the school’s strategic direction, hold school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and oversee the financial performance of the school.

The role of a governor:

· Helping to set and review the school’s strategic direction and agreeing targets for improvement

· Holding the headteacher and school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

· Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure public money is well spent

In return, our Governing Board commits to: · provide you with an experienced governor as mentor, · provide you with a structured induction, · provide access to quality training via Warwickshire Governor Services · develop your skills in strategic management, · offer you an insight into the wider perspective of the school, · give you the opportunity to make a difference to our school and the outcomes for our pupils

Administration,Advice, Information & Support,Community Work,Teaching & Training,Trusteeships & Committees

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Evaluating & Reviewing, Listening skills

In looking to fill these vacancies, we are particularly interested in applications from people with HR experience and also people who can occasionally visit the school during the day, although please do not be put off if you do not have these skills. What is more important is enthusiasm, interest and the willingness to learn.

6 one-hour FGB meetings per year. Potential for 6 further committee meetings per year, also one-hour in length. Possible monitoring visits to school, potentially 1 per term.
