Cafe Assistant

We need a volunteer for around 3 1/2 hours on a Monday afternoon to help run a drop-in centre cafe that is run by one of the charity trustees for people with mental health diagnoses and people dealing with loneliness. The role will include taking orders and money from service users, making hot drinks, supplying cold drinks, delivering food (the trustee is responsible for making the food), collecting dirty dishes, occasionally may be required to help with washing up.

The individual needs to be friendly and polite. They will also understand that our service users use the drop in centre as a means to find company and have someone to talk to, so a friendly face and someone willing to listen and make small talk would be beneficial but not essential as they mostly talk amongst themselves.

The opportunity would be beneficial to someone who has too much time on their hands and is looking for something to do fill the time, perhaps someone who wants an opportunity to get out and meet people themselves.

3 1/2 hours a week

Volunteer Centre  Support you will receive

The property has ramps and wide doorways into the community room where the cafe is run. We have a regular user who comes in on a mobility scooter. Getting behind the counter to make drinks wouldn't be possible for a wheelchair user.
