Befriender Volunteer (Nuneaton)

Friendship Project For Children

You did not enter a postcode in the search, or the postcode for this role is unknown.

Warwickshire-based Volunteers are needed to become befrienders to children aged between 6 and 16 on a one to one basis, for two to three hours per week.

The Friendship Project is a Warwickshire-wide charity that matches children and young people (who are in need, for a variety of reasons) with volunteers, for friendship and fun. The child may be caring for a sick parent or be limited to where they can go out to because of a disabled sibling or other family member. For some children, even playing in the park or going to the cinema are a rare treat. Having some time out from often difficult home situations really does improve the child’s self-esteem and self-worth. Our volunteers report that they too enjoy spending time with their Younger Friend knowing that they are really making a difference to a child’s life.

Once a week meeting with a child in need for 2 – 3 hours. The aim is to be a positive role model and build the friendship with fun simple outings. Your commitment and time will help the child to grow in confidence and self-esteem.

Full training and support is given to our befrienders and you can claim back £12 a week (£48 a month) per outing to cover the child’s expenses (plus mileage and car parking costs).

Over 18 years only.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out.
We are looking for long term weekly commitment.
Volunteers need to be based in or near Warwickshire.
