Cafe Volunteer for The SYDNI Centr - Sydenham

The SYDNI Centre has a café on site, and we require a Volunteer café worker to assist in the kitchen and front-of house activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your experience working within a catering environment, gaining customer service and food preparation skills, as well as event catering experience.

Ideally we're looking for someone with a food hygiene certificate but full training can be provided.

Tasks you will undertake:
1. Assisting in the preparation of lunch orders
2. Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan and speciality beverages.
3. Serving customers at café counter
4. Providing a warm and friendly welcome
5. Helping to maintain a clean and efficient kitchen
6. Assisting Café Manager with health and safety requirements
7. Assisting Café Manager with stock rotation and control
8. Supporting existing user groups and helping to develop café services

Skills you will acquire:
- Adaptable working in a busy catering environment
- Good Customer Service
- Working with a diverse community
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene

Skills/qualifications required: Able to work quickly under pressure Passionate about good healthy food Able to work on own initiative and to work with others collectively Good organisational skills Knowledge of food safety (or willingness to learn) The ability to understand and a willingness to work within SYDNI's equal opportunities and confidentiality policies
