Sensory Fun for Under 2’s Group Assistant

Main tasks and responsibilities
• To help set up the room and tidy away afterwards
• To welcome parents/carers and their children to the group
• To role model positive play experiences within the group
• To encourage group members to support their children to engage with activities
• To support parents in identifying their child’s learning
• To ensure the risk assessment for the group is followed
• To take part in the planning, review, and promotion of the sessions
• Attend child protection basic awareness training and Baby Friendly Initiative session

Personal qualities, skills, and experience needed • Approachable, friendly manner, and a desire to be helpful • Punctual and reliable • Self-confidence and an ability to put others at their ease • Non-judgmental attitude • Good listener and effective communication skills • Ability to understand the importance of safeguarding and health and safety procedures • Ability to understand the importance of play and learning through play • Understanding of the challenges of parenting • Knowledge of Early Years requirements are desirable but not essential • Experience of being around young children (as a parent / carer, in a voluntary role, in previous employment)

• Enjoyment of working with children and parents/carers • Experience of working with children or young people with specific needs • Developing Early Years knowledge and skills • Developing personal qualities, such as confidence and self-esteem • Pride in passing on skills, knowledge, and experience • Experience to add to your CV • Possibility of reference for job application • Mileage and expenses will be covered

Wednesday 12.30 pm – 2.45 pm (session runs 1 pm – 2.15 pm) Term Time only – Sessions are running 2 Sep – 12 Dec 2025
