Childminders Network Group Assistant

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Help to set up for the group and tidy away afterwards
• Welcome childminders and children to the group
• Help childminders to sign-in upon arrival
• Role model positive play experiences within the group
• Support opportunities for independent play when appropriate
• Assist at snack times and encourage social interactions - Role model healthy eating and good table manners
• Take part in planning and promotion for the group with the childminders
• Attend any training which may be required to support you in the role
• Be prepared to get quite messy/muddy every week

Personal qualities, skills, and experience desired • Approachable, friendly manner, and a desire to be helpful • Self-confidence and an ability to put others at their ease • Non-judgmental attitude • Good listener and good communication skills • Punctual and reliable • Experience of being around young children (possibly as a parent, carer, at work, or as a volunteer) • Understanding of the challenges encountered by childminders, and the importance of play • Ability to understand the importance of safeguarding and health and safety procedures • Food Hygiene qualification is desirable but is not essential. We can support you to gain a Safe Food essentials level 1 food hygiene qualification • Willingness to attend a 3 Hour Child Protection Basic Awareness course

• Enjoyment of working with children and childcare professionals • Experience of working with children or young people with specific needs • Developing Early Years knowledge, understanding, and skills • Opportunities to connect with local childminders • Developing skills in working within a group environment • Developing personal qualities, such as confidence and self-esteem • Experience to add to your CV • Possibility of reference for job application • Mileage and expenses will be covered
